About Gary

"I am your Ridgeway Ward Councillor"

My family and I live in Wanborough and are a big part of village life. I am married to Sarah (a Deputy Head at a Swindon Primary School) and have three children (Jordan is a Critical Care Nurse, Hannah is studying and 16 year old Will who attends Ridgeway School, is a footballer and qualified FA referee & qualified football coach.

I was a Parish Councillor for 14 years in Wanborough and Chairman for 5 years. I work hard in my community, attend and throw myself into village events including the Village Clean Ups (Liddington & Badbury as well as Wanborough), Wanborough Summer Show, May Day Fayre, the Scarecrow Hunt.

If you have an issue that requires my help please contact me? I am in and around the villages evenings and weekends and the best way to contact me is to email me initially at gary@ridgewayvillages.co.uk (I receive emails all day) or call my home and leave a message on 01793 790814

"My work as a Borough Councillor"

In May 2018 I was proud to be given the role of Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning & Sustainability which includes overseeing the strategic growth of Swindon and all planning matters including the New Eastern Villages, Wichelstowe, Tadpole Garden Villagge, Kingsdown etc. The portfolio also includes the Landscape team, Planning Control and Planning enforcement.

I attend monthly Parish Council meetings in Liddington, Bishopstone and Chiseldon (for Badbury). I will be holding Ward Councillor Surgeries in Wanborough Village Hall monthly:

As Ward Councillor I attend up to four Parish Council meetings a month and do my best to add value and help.

On the whole both the Parish Councils and residents benefit from this but I am more than happy to meet residents at other times more convenient to them.

Swindon Town Centre

Town Centres are changing and leisure uses as well as restaurants, experiences will become more important. I'm always happy to spend time enjoying our Town or the fabulous Outlet Centre.

North Star Village

Detailed plans now approved for an indoor ski and snow complex, cinema to include 12 screens and the largest IMAX in the country and shops, restaurants and bowling plus a hotel. A great leisure destination for the South of England as well as employment.

Summer 2016 in Liddington

we celebrated the 90th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen and despite some rain it was a great event. Well done as usual to Tessa for leading on the organisation superbly.

Wanborough Summer Show

Wanborough Junior Football Club were one of the floats at the Show and we raised money along the route to the show-ground.

We won first prize in the Junior Section for our Wasps / Swindon Town themed float - then donated our winnings to Prospect Hospice - the charity supported by Wanborough Bowls Club!
